Providing Immigration support to faculty, staff, and international scholars.
At the heart of international education exchange at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), our office, Global Academic Services (GAS), plays a pivotal role in supporting J-1 Scholars, Post-Docs, Professors, and Interns. As part of the Center for Global Engagement and Academic Affairs, GAS offers a diverse range of services aimed at facilitating the valuable expertise these individuals bring to our institution.
Our responsibilities encompass overseeing employment matters related to non-immigrant work visas, including H-1B, O-1, TN, and E-3 visas, as well as handling employment-based permanent residency requests. Acting as a liaison between hiring departments and FAU's contracted immigration firm, GAS ensures smooth coordination and compliance with immigration regulations.
Additionally, our office takes on the important task of ensuring regulatory compliance for J-1 visa program categories, such as Short-Term Scholars, Interns, Research Scholars, and Professors, under the Exchange Visitor Program. Governed by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, we uphold rigorous standards to facilitate these exchange programs effectively.
Furthermore, GAS actively promotes the Fulbright Scholar Program, which provides FAU faculty with grants to lecture, conduct research, or participate in seminars worldwide. This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering international collaboration and academic excellence within the FAU community.
In summary, Global Academic Services serves as a dedicated resource hub, facilitating the seamless integration of international scholars and promoting cross-cultural exchange opportunities at FAU.
