FAU Student Chapter attends the 69th Annual FSMS Conference in Orlando
Wednesday, Aug 21, 2024The Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Student Chapter of the Florida Surveying and Mapping Society (FSMS) made a strong impression at the 69th Annual FSMS Conference, held from July 23-27 in Orlando. The students successfully established their booth, demonstrating enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the five-day industry event.
Key industry partners generously supported the FAU student chapter’s participation. Todd Bates, PSM, President, and the other officers of the FSMS Palm Beach Chapter, facilitated the students’ attendance. The FSMS Crown Chapter, Caulfield & Wheeler, Inc. (CWI), and WGI also provided additional support, exemplifying the surveying and mapping community’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent. Additionally, Brightline rail service sponsored round-trip transportation to the conference.
FSMS FAU Student Chapter officer, Brianna Parson, played a pivotal role in coordinating with the Palm Beach Chapter and worked diligently to ensure students could attend the conference. Her leadership and dedication were instrumental in making this opportunity possible for the FAU students.
In addition to managing their booth, the students participated in the exhibitor luncheon and joined the recognition banquet with other industry leaders. These events provided further opportunities for networking and professional development.
Throughout the conference, FAU students networked with industry professionals and gained insights into the latest developments in surveying and mapping. Their active engagement highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between academic institutions and the professional sector, potentially shaping the future of the field.
