Anil Kumar Mandal Received 2024 USGIF Maxar Scholarship for Diversity and Innovation in GEOINT

Anil Kumar Mandal, a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Gematics Engineering, has been awarded the prestigious USGIF (The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation) Maxar Scholarship for Diversity and Innovation in GEOINT for the 2024-25 academic year (http://usgif.org/usgif-scholarship-program/). This significant achievement comes from a highly competitive, multitiered review by an independent panel of GEOINT community professionals in July 2024. The USGIF Maxar Scholarship for Diversity and Innovation in GEOINT, with an amount of $10,000, is awarded to one undergraduate or graduate student in the entire US. With his outstanding achievement, Mandal was selected from a large pool of talented candidates.

The USGIF Maxar Scholarship is awarded to individuals with exceptional potential and dedication to advancing geospatial technology. Mandal 's passion for integrating AI with geospatial data to develop innovative solutions for community development was a critical factor in his selection.

Mandal has a strong academic background, holds a bachelor's degree in geomatics engineering from Tribhuvan University in Nepal, and is currently pursuing an MS in civil engineering at FAU. His extensive community engagements underscore his commitment to leveraging geospatial technology for societal benefit.
