FAU is committed to providing students with an atmosphere that fosters learning, personal growth, and exploration of diverse skills and competencies. One way to accomplish this is by offering the opportunity to gain practical skills in their area of expertise while engaging with the community. Through these experiences, students are exposed to activities related to collaborative learning, critical analysis, effective written and oral communication and reflection.
The Office of Community Engagement has been dedicated to ensuring that experiential learning opportunities, such as academic service-learning courses, internships, co-ops, and study abroad, provide students with more than applied knowledge by having a community component. This ensures that students are contributing to and engaging with our community while gaining hands-on experience in their field. Experiential learning helps students better understand how their knowledge, acquired in the classroom, plays a role in solving societal problems, and how they can become active community members.
We invite students to learn more about the different opportunities to engage with the community by exploring the tabs on the left. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
