Khi V. Thai, Professor Emeritus, has published over 100 refereed journal articles, book chapters and books in the filed of public procurement and public finance. He was the founder and editor in chief, Journal of Public Procurement, the 1st academic journal in the field; and the Founder, International Public Procurement Conference (
www.ippa.org
). During his tenure at FAU, he chaired numerous dissertation committees. He is still active with academic research and professional service.
In the addition to academic research and teaching, he has provided consulting services to Inter-American Development Bank, US AID, United Nations, Sierra Leone, Canada, Uganda, Colombia, and various state and local governments in USA, Government Finance Officers Association (as faculty advisor), National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (as faculty member of the Research Committee, and Education Committee), and Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (as an academic member of the Governance Board).
His strength is in organizing numerous training programs for state and local government officials in Maine in the 1980s, numerous international leadership training programs sponsored by the World Bank in the 1990s, Bulgaria Procurement Monitoring and Performance Study Tour (July 2006), Government of Columbia’s Vendor Manual and Seminars (2006-2007), Government of China’s Asset Management (May 2009), the Government of Sint Marteens (2014), and Leadership and Management programs for Vietnamese government officials (2012-2017).
His main hobby during his retirement has been in real estate investments and international travelling.
